As the world reopened after COVID, people had forgotten what it felt like to gather, to listen, to belong.
The Kindry, an initiative by Richa Chadha, was built around amplifying everyday acts of kindness. We brought this idea to life through a curated cultural experience on World Music Day.
Music was the invitation. Belonging was the point.
The most powerful way to communicate an idea
is to let people feel it together.
We didn't want an audience. We wanted participants. A porous stage where anyone could step in. Space, food, light, and sound designed as emotional triggers.
The experience idea ✦
The goal was to celebrate the spirit of The Kindry — amplifying everyday heroes. Artists from jazz, folk, poetry, improv and more. A 17-year-old from the audience stepped forward and asked to perform. The room lit up with phone torches.
A room of strangers became a room of participants.
Rajiv Raja · Mehak Mirza · Mohammed Muneem · Shrey Gupta · Amitosh Nagpal · Danish Khan
Jazz took over the room with Rajiv Raja and his band. Mehak Mirza Prabhu brought storytelling to life. Kashmiri music echoed through Mohammed Muneem.
Fingerstyle guitar by Shrey Gupta created quiet, intimate moments. Poetry came alive through Amitosh Nagpal. Danish Khan experimented with electric sitar. Improv comedy added spontaneity.
At one point, a 17-year-old from the audience stepped forward and asked to perform.
Tribal women from Aarey forest prepared authentic tribal food for everyone. Undercurrent — an initiative by Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal to support women in cinema — was introduced. Kindry Heroes, individuals who showed acts of kindness during COVID, were celebrated.
